In the late 1980s, Ettore Sottsass worked with the Italian ceramicist Alessio Sarri to realize an edition of ceramic pieces based on a series of his drawings from 1972-73 titled “The Indian Memory.” The work was presented by Anthologie Quartett, and first exhibited in September 1987 at Gallery Antonia Jannone (Milan). This piece is from the first edition.
The item is hand numbered (No. 065) in gold pen on both the bottom and the underside of the lid. The base is signed E. Sottsass, 1989, and features a hand drawn Alessio Sarri logo. The “AS” logo is also imprinted in the glaze. Excellent vintage condition. Minor soiling to the base, else pristine.
