A few years after the death of Ettore Sottsass in 2007, it became apparent that the Bacterio pattern he designed for Abet Laminati in 1978 would return as a touchstone of early-21st-century, internet-enabled referentialism. Between 2012-2016 Magliaro developed a series of more than a dozen distinct objects that employ Sottsass’s Bacterio laminate as a complete exterior surface or skin. This is one of the later pieces from that series, a unique side table or stool realized in 2016.
