Verner Panton, IKEA
33h x 16w x 20d
IKEA’s early-90s adventure into the production of limited-edition design. Panton designed the chair in 1992 at the request of MDF manufacturer HIAG Group. After receiving a positive response to an initial production of 150 chairs, Panton reached out to IKEA and proposed a larger-scale run of his design. The company accepted his proposal and produced the Vilbert chair in 1994. It is estimated that 3,000-4,000 were produced before IKEA discontinued the piece. Good condition, with age-appropriate wear and oxidation around the screw contact points.
